Neuroplasticity

Neuroplasticity - nerve cell

Neuroplasticity, also called brain plasticity, is the brain’s ability to learn, grow, and change throughout life. The term neuroplasticity comes from the word “neuron,” which refers to the nerve cells in our brain, and “plastic,” which means to sculpt, mold, or modify. In sum, neuroplasticity refers to the brain’s ability to sculpt, mold, or modify new and existing nerve cells in the brain.

Neuroplasticity is an amazing discovery. Early researchers believed that you stopped creating new neurons, a process known as neurogenesis, shortly after you were born. Under this old school of thought, it was believed that you were essentially “stuck” with the brain you got, without a way to improve your mental and physical capacity. Similarly, it was thought that if a person’s brain were damaged in some way, they’d lose the function from that part of the brain, forever. It was a truly limited view, but fortunately we now know differently, and modern research in neuroplasticity supports evidence for a range of cognitive and physical improvements.

Why Neuroplasticity Matters

Modern research supports the brain’s remarkable ability to change its neural structure due to its plasticity. Not only is this completely empowering, because it puts YOU in the driver’s seat to help improve your brain function, but it also means you no longer have to feel stuck or limited by your brain’s potential. At APEX Brain Centers, we are actively helping people build better brains, bodies, and lives through our revolutionary “Brain Intensive” training methods.

Brain Plasticity Training at APEX

At APEX Brain Centers, you can improve your brain function, and physical function, regardless of your current level of performance. Through our Brain Intensive Training methods, you can achieve results in a matter of days to weeks rather than the months or years required in traditional settings. Our Brain Intensive Trainings are unique because we give our clients the chance to repeat trainings in multiple sessions throughout the day, over the course of one or more weeks. The results are dramatic, because the brain learns best when it has the ability to practice something over and over again without gaps in training sessions.
