Train Your Brain to Improve Brain Power and Function

Brain Training is a method of exercising the brain to strengthen connections that control cognitive and physical abilities. At APEX Brain Centers we deliver targeted, intensive Brain Training designed to help our clients achieve their goals for mental and physical performance.

Brain improvement is achievable by anyone. Scientific research has demonstrated that our brains continue to change, learn, and grow throughout our lives. This concept, neuroplasticity or brain plasticity, is at the core of our Brain Training Programs. Our strategies will help you change your brain in positive ways and elevate your level of brain power and function to new heights.

APEX Brain Centers can help you Build a Better Brain, and Live a Better Life!

Brain Training Strategies

Testing Methods

At APEX Brain Centers, we know that the more specific a client’s Brain Training program is, the more successful the outcomes are. Our Brain Training process begins with a thorough investigation, or Day of Discovery, looking into numerous markers that tell us how your brain and body are functioning.

We create your customized Brain Training program based on the results of this comprehensive diagnostic testing. Further tests are administered throughout the training process to guide the direction of the training, gauge improvements, and to make sure we are advancing toward your goals in the most efficient way possible.

qEEG Brain Mapping

Quantitative electroencephalography, or qEEG, records and analyzes electrical activity in the brain. This brainwave data is used to create a brain map that shows us how your brain reacts and functions under different circumstances. Brain maps are used to direct neurofeedback training.

Dynamic Posturography

This test measures balance control and helps us identify abnormalities in your ability to maintain effective balance. Our ability to maintain balance is directly related to our higher cognitive functions.

Neurological Testing

To determine which Brain Training methods will help you achieve your goals, we undertake a full investigation into your neurological health. We test each client’s reflexes, sensory abilities, motor function, balance, vision and hearing, movement, autonomic functions (i.e. blood pressure, heart rate, breathing/oxygen levels, etc.), and much more.

Videonystagmography (VNG) Testing For the Eyes

We measure and record slow and fast eye movements, gaze holding ability, and other eye responses to determine what parts of the brain are malfunctioning in any number of cognitive and physical challenges.

Standardized Cognitive Testing

These tests reveal your level of attention, focus, memory and other critical cognitive abilities.

Tests of Brain Timing

Your brain’s ability to keep time through processing of sounds (temporal processing) is directly related to your ability to focus and attend to everyday tasks.

Metabolic Testing

We measure internal biochemistry, which allows us to deliver nutritional protocols to support brain and body function.

Tools and Exercises to Train Your Brain

There is no ‘one size fits all’ solution to brain improvement. Any or all of the following Brain Training tools may be used to provide solutions to problems we uncover through extensive testing.

Neurofeedback (NFB) is a form of biofeedback that helps you learn to modify and self-regulate your brainwaves for optimal performance.

Neurological Rehabilitation (Brain Exercises)

Visual, eye movement, auditory (sound), smell, vestibular (balance), motor, complex motor skills, cognitive, computer assisted, and other types of exercises delivered specific for abnormalities identified through testing procedures.

Interactive Metronome (IM)

IM is the only research-based training program that combines a music metronome with a patented technology system that accurately measures and improves a person’s rhythm and timing. IM trains the brain to plan, sequence, and process information more effectively.

Metabolic and Nutritional Therapy

The brain requires constant and appropriate fuel for maximum efficiency. Identification and correction of nutritional deficiencies and poor eating habits, as well as nutritional supplementation when indicated, can significantly impact brain function.

Who Benefits From Brain Training?

Anyone can benefit from a comprehensive Brain Training program at APEX Brain Centers. We can help whether you are looking to achieve specific neurological improvements, or improve your overall mental and physical fitness.

The evidence-based Brain Training delivered at APEX Brain Centers alleviates, and in some cases eliminates, the symptoms of many disorders and conditions. We see clients seeking improvements for a variety of reasons:

Neurological Conditions or Disorders

Brain disorders limit one’s ability to perform everyday functions and be self-sufficient. At APEX Brain Centers, we perform extensive diagnostic testing and use what we learn to design a Brain Training regimen that can significantly improve the client’s ability to function at a higher level.

Neurological Conditions Include:

Learning, Behavioral and Developmental Disabilities

Learning, behavioral and developmental disabilities are lifelong disorders that affect one’s ability to interpret what they see and hear or to link information from different parts of the brain for appropriate cognitive, physical, social, and emotional responses.

These limitations can impact physical, academic, and social skills and impede learning, movement, and forming meaningful relationships, among other things.

Learning, behavioral and developmental disabilities include:

Learning Disabilities

  • Dyslexia
  • Sensory Integration Dysfunction, Sensory Processing Disorder

Behavioral Disorders

Developmental Disabilities

  • Cerebral Palsy
  • Autism
  • Asperger’s Syndrome
  • Intellectual Disability

Traumatic Brain Injury and Concussion

Traumatic brain injury (TBI) occurs when an external force injures the brain. This can be a direct blow to the head, or whiplash injuries like those sustained in car accident. TBI can be classified based on severity, mechanism (closed or penetrating head injury), or other features (e.g., occurring in a specific location or over a widespread area).

Diagnostic testing helps us determine what parts of the brain the injury has affected so we can direct training to improve that specific area.  No matter how mild or severe the concussion or other head trauma, these injuries will have far-reaching consequences and should not be ignored!

Mental Health Disorders

There are wide range of emotional and mental health conditions.

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, or PTSD, is a mental health condition that develops in response to a terrifying event. Symptoms may include flashbacks, nightmares and severe anxiety, as well as uncontrollable thoughts about the event.

Over 20 million women and 10 million men in our country struggle with eating disorders: including anorexia nervosa, bulimia, and binge eating disorder. Eating disorders are the number one cause of death among ALL mental illnesses.

Other types of disorders include bipolar and schizophrenia.
